Malachite in Brass 🍃💚🌞
I wanted to dedicate the voiceover in this video to a story that I came across recently that was inspiring for me. It is from the Hindu epic The Mahabharata, where a master archer is teaching his students how to shoot a bow. Only one of those students answered correctly, and it was Arjuna, who was the only one able to see the target that the teacher inquired about.
So often when we have a goal in mind, that goal is often accompanied with additional doubts and fears and worries that come along with it for free😂 and many times, those doubts are enough to prevent us from doing anything further with that vision. I get asked so many questions on a daily basis of how to get started doing what I do, how do I make a website, how do I find where to sell my pieces, how do I figure out the wire gauges, how do I know what to post, when to post, what kind of videos to post… all these questions that are stopping someone from just taking that first action of doing anything at all towards those dreams.
To be honest, I did not consider one single thing prior to jumping into my craft full-time. All I was doing was teaching myself wire wrapping every single day! One day came along where I made an Etsy.. so I figured everything out I needed to make one. I wasn’t a fan of Etsy… so I opened my own website! I had no prior experience, I just looked it up and figured it out! Then I had to learn what gauges of wire to use for what.. so I went online and did a bunch of research, and also experimented a lot! Basically, you just have to take action. Start experimenting, start trying, start doing anything towards your goals, and you will be surprised by what you’re capable of figuring out. As long as you hold onto that strong vision of where you want to be, everything else will fall into place with time.
You may struggle… but what is your vision? What is your end goal? If you have a strong focus on what it is, then trust that everything else will take you there in time. Take it from me… someone who started from literally nothing to somehow ending up here💚

When I first decided to dive into wire wrapped jewelry making, I faced a flood of questions and uncertainties just like many beginners do. From choosing the right materials—like malachite stones and brass wire—to understanding the technical side such as wire gauges and finishing techniques, it seemed overwhelming at first. But the key lesson I’ve learned and want to share is that perfect knowledge is not a prerequisite for starting. In fact, I found that starting hands-on, trying out things little by little, and learning from mistakes was the best way forward. For example, I experimented with different wire gauges to see which balanced durability with ease of wrapping. I also learned that brass is not only affordable and visually appealing but also sturdy enough to hold intricate malachite stones securely. Malachite itself brings beautiful green hues and unique patterns that can instantly make a jewelry piece stand out. Building an online presence also felt intimidating. I remember navigating setting up my Etsy shop step-by-step and later creating my own website without any formal training. Online tutorials and forums became invaluable resources where I found answers and community support. More than anything, I learned that staying committed to the vision of simply creating and sharing my jewelry kept me motivated through the frustrations. If you dream of becoming a jewelry maker working with natural stones like malachite and metals like brass, my advice is to focus on your goal without getting stuck perfecting every detail before you begin. Each small action—be it learning a new wrapping knot or photographing your work—builds momentum. Trust the process and your vision, because even when challenges arise, persistence and passion will guide you to growth and success in this beautiful craft.
