Suncatcher… number 6!🫣
you guys thought I was kidding when I told you I would be making a whole collection of these suncatchers😂 I have come to the realization that when I get hyper fixated on something, I am able to channel all of my energy into making an entire set of whatever I’m working on lol.. and by the last day of my shop update, I’m exhausted. But! That means I have about two weeks of drive left!
I’ve been using up so many of my scrap frames, wire that I have been gifted, which is why this design is a mix of two metals! It makes me feel so repurpose for when things I’ve been storing for years are being put to use (because otherwise, what would I do with them?!) you guys already know how much I love mixed metals, so of course it had to creep into my designs here too 😄
I’m curious what you guys think of these frames that I’m making, is there a favor that you see so far? Do you have any color suggestions? I’m not even sure how well these will sell… but that’s beside the point, I’m just having a lot of fun making them in general :) not everything has to be about if it’s going to sell or not.. sometimes it’s just about letting your creative spirit shine!

Creating suncatchers has been an incredibly rewarding and immersive experience for me. I often find that when I concentrate deeply on a craft, it channels my energy into producing a cohesive collection, which has been the case with these mixed metal suncatchers. Using wire and scrap frames gifted to me, I’ve been able to breathe new life into materials that might otherwise gather dust, making each piece something special and sustainable. One thing I truly love about combining different metals in my work is the unique contrast and texture it brings to each suncatcher. The blend of warm and cool tones offers a dynamic aesthetic that catches the light in varied and interesting ways, enhancing the beauty of the piece. This approach also aligns with my passion for repurposing. It feels gratifying to turn 'organized chaos'—those bits and pieces I’ve accumulated over time—into elegant, handcrafted art. Throughout this creative journey, I’ve been experimenting with colors and frame styles, and I’m eager for feedback from fellow jewelry lovers or makers. Whether it’s preferences for certain metal combinations or suggestions for new color palettes, input helps keep the creative momentum alive. For me, crafting isn’t just about making something that sells — it’s about expressing creativity and joy through the process. If you’re considering creating your own suncatchers or similar crafts, I encourage you to look closely at materials you might already have. Often, mixed metals and repurposed materials add a distinctive character that you can’t find in brand-new supplies. Plus, the environmental benefits of upcycling are a bonus! In the end, allowing your creative spirit to lead your projects without the pressure to sell every piece can be incredibly freeing. It fosters innovation and opens up new possibilities for your craft, making it more enjoyable and fulfilling. So, whether you’re a jewelry maker or simply someone who enjoys creating, I hope my experience inspires you to dive into your own projects with passion and sustainability in mind.
