Some of my home staples

I had gastric sleeve surgery 12/12/23. Posting some of the staples I carry at the house for those times when I don’t have time to cook a whole meal or need some snacks to hold me over. A few things to consider here, as I know every body is different.

1- I work night shift. I’m home during the day for my kiddo, between doctor appointments, school, soccer, band and marching band…. There’s little time.

2- meal prepping is great, when people have the time to do so. Moms get busy with their kids 500 extracurricular activities. Meal prepping is sometimes not an option. Quick grab and go, or tossing some nuggies into an air fryer is the only options available.

3- the quick meals are the easiest. I love the chicken salads, enchilada bakes- super simple. Found an awesome recipe for chicken parm bake I can’t wait to try out!

Here are some great staples to consider: 1. **Protein Snacks**: Incorporating high-protein snacks such as crunchy roasted edamame or protein bars can help you stay full longer and support recovery. Look for gluten-free and low-carb options like QUEST protein bars that fit easily into a hectic schedule. 2. **Easy Meal Solutions**: Products like lightly breaded chicken nuggets, made from chicken breast, offer a quick meal choice high in protein. With preparation simplicity, they can be cooked in an air fryer or oven, providing a healthier alternative to traditional fast food. 3. **Meal Prepping Tips**: For those who have some time, consider meal prepping on weekends. Preparing dishes like chicken salads or enchilada bakes in advance can save time during busy weekdays. Quick recipes can minimize cooking time and still provide nutritious options for your family. 4. **Explore New Recipes**: Trying out new recipes can keep meals interesting. One promising dish to explore is chicken parm bake, which is simple yet satisfying. 5. **Balanced Nutrition**: Ensure to include a balance of proteins, fibers, and healthy fats in your meal choices, and be cautious with sodium levels. Products that provide clear nutritional facts can help track dietary intake. By keeping a well-stocked kitchen with these essentials, you can simplify meal preparation while maintaining a nutritious diet.
