... Read moreI've been a huge Kirby fan for as long as I can remember! The games, the adorable character designs, the endless charm โ€“ it all just makes me so happy. So, when I finally got my hands on a copy of Kirby Manga Mania Volume 1, I honestly couldn't contain my excitement. It's one thing to play as our favorite pink puffball, but seeing his antics in manga form? Pure bliss! For anyone new to it, Kirby Manga Mania is a collection of hilarious gag manga comics by Hirokazu Hikawa. These aren't deep, lore-heavy stories; they're short, punchy, and incredibly funny adventures starring Kirby and his friends (and rivals!) on Planet Popstar. Volume 1 is such a fantastic starting point. The moment I saw the cover โ€“ that large, smiling pink Kirby character with those big, innocent eyes, surrounded by smaller Kirbys and stars โ€“ I knew I was in for a treat. It perfectly captures the whimsical spirit of the series. Flipping through the pages, Hirokazu Hikawa's art style is just perfect for Kirby. It's expressive, dynamic, and really brings out the humor in every panel. I found myself laughing out loud so many times. One of my absolute favorite manga panels from this volume is the one where Kirby is just chilling with a LOO JUICE bottle, looking totally relaxed, with the text bubbles saying things like BEEELCH and RELAX AN' JOIN ME!. It's such a classic Kirby moment โ€“ always eating, always having fun, and often causing hilarious chaos without even trying.
