Trick or treating? It’s not even about fun anymore
Halloween’s basically just a money grab these days. Every year, it’s like a 30 day window where every business under the sun cashes in hard. Trick-or-treating? It’s not even about fun anymore, it’s a way to make kids (and their parents) buy tons of candy and pumpkins, which lines the pockets of those industries. What used to be a traditional festival feels totally twisted now, all about sales, not spirit.
Adults dropping cash on weird costumes for their kids. Bars rolling out “Halloween specials” just to drag people in and make more money. It’s all a big capitalist ruse, no two ways about it.
It feels so silly wasting time picking out costumes, spending money on candy that’ll be gone in a week, and pretending it’s all “festive.” Am I being a downer or is Halloween really just a waste of time and cash?
