Free taxi or crowded bus?
Let’s unpack the dumbest question I’ve gotten from guys. I’ve had to explain multiple times in different scenarios: “Why would you choose to ride a packed late night bus when I’d pay for your taxi?” Like, do they really not get it?
Men who’ve never walked through the world as a woman have no clue about the safety math we do every single day. A taxi alone with a stranger at 10pm? No thanks. A crowded bus, even squished next to strangers, it feels way safer. There are witnesses, other people around and less chance of being put in an uncomfortable (or dangerous) situation.
It’s wild how oblivious some guys are to the realities of being female. They see “free taxi” as a nice gesture, but I see a risk I don’t need to take. I shouldn’t have to justify prioritizing my safety over convenience especially to someone who’ll never experience that constant hypervigilance. What’s a question a guy asked you that made you think “do you really not understand how my life works?”

A guy asked me if my period comes “on weekends too.” I had to walk away because I genuinely could not handle the ignorance.
