1. Income uncertain

การเป็นติวเตอร์นอกจากจะมีข้อดีมากมายแล้ว ข้อเสียที่ผู้สอนหลายคนเจอก็สำคัญมากที่ควรนำมาพิจารณา เพราะจะช่วยให้เตรียมตัวรับมือได้ดียิ่งขึ้น หนึ่งในปัญหาหลักคือเรื่องรายได้ที่ไม่แน่นอน ขึ้นอยู่กับจำนวนและช่วงเวลาของนักเรียน เช่น ช่วงสอบจะมีนักเรียนมาก รายได้ดี แต่พอช่วงปิดเทอมหรือสอบเสร็จ รายได้อาจลดลงจนรู้สึกกังวล การบริหารจัดการเงินและวางแผนการเงินจึงเป็นสิ่งจำเป็นมาก นอกจากนี้ การต้องใช้พลังงานและสมาธิสูงในแต่ละชั่วโมงสอนก็ถือเป็นเรื่องท้าทายมาก เพราะต้องอธิบายซ้ำ ๆ ทำให้สอนจนเหนื่อยง่าย บางครั้งเจอเด็กที่ไม่ตั้งใจ หรือมีรูปแบบความเข้าใจที่แตกต่างกัน ก็ต้องปรับวิธีการสอนให้เหมาะสมกับแต่ละคน เรื่องความคาดหวังจากผู้ปกครองและนักเรียนก็เป็นข้อกดดันอย่างหนึ่ง บางคนต้องการเห็นผลลัพธ์เร็ว ๆ หรือกดราคาค่าติว ทำให้รู้สึกกดดันและต้องบริหารความคาดหวังอย่างระมัดระวัง เวลาทำงานที่ไม่เป็นเวลาทำให้ชีวิตส่วนตัวแปรปรวน ต้องสอนช่วงเย็นหรือวันหยุดตลอด อาจทำให้พักผ่อนน้อยและมีอาการ burnout จากความเครียดสะสมและการจ้องหน้าจอนาน ๆ การเตรียมการสอนซึ่งต้องใช้เวลามาก ทั้งการวางแผนเนื้อหาและแบบฝึกหัด ทำให้บางครั้งรู้สึกเหนื่อยล้ามากกว่าที่คิด เพราะติวเตอร์มักต้องรับหน้าที่ทุกอย่างเอง โดยรวมแล้ว แม้เป็นงานที่ให้ความสุขและตอบแทนได้ดีในบางจังหวะ แต่ติวเตอร์ก็ต้องพร้อมรับมือกับความไม่แน่นอนและความท้าทายเหล่านี้อย่างเต็มที่ หากจัดการตนเองได้ดี จะช่วยให้การทำงานเป็นติวเตอร์มีประสิทธิภาพและความสุขในระยะยาวมากขึ้น
