What God says about community 🫶🏾

This semester I took the step God was pushing me to take and I co-hosted a softball group with my friend. I had no idea what to expect but I’m so glad I did it! The people who joined our group are some of the coolest cats on the block and I couldn’t have picked a better group of people to get back into softball with.

We prayed together.

We celebrated praise reports together.

We laughed together.

We won and we lost together.

And this week, we’ll fellowship together.

I’ll forever sing God’s praises because He always knows exactly what we need as His children.

Joining a faith-based community can profoundly impact your spiritual growth and personal life. From my own experience, stepping into a leadership role in a group — like co-hosting a softball team — created a unique environment where fellowship went beyond just shared activities. It was about truly living out scriptural principles such as Romans 12:10 (NLT), which encourages us to "Love each other with genuine affection and take delight in honoring each other." These verses remind us that authentic community is built on kindness and honor. Through regular prayer, shared joys and challenges, and open support in times of both victory and loss, such groups provide a space where believers can rejoice and weep together as Romans 12:15 (ESV) advises. This means the community becomes an extended family, fostering emotional and spiritual healing. Ephesians 4:32 (NLT) emphasizes being kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving one another just as Christ forgave us. Embracing this taught me the importance of patience and grace in community interactions, especially when differences arise. Personally, participating in this softball fellowship gave me a deeper appreciation for how God’s guidance in connecting people serves His larger purpose. Whether it’s through shared prayers, laughter, or fellowship events, each moment nurtures a closer relationship with God and with each other. I encourage anyone seeking a stronger spiritual life to find or create a community rooted in these biblical truths. It’s in these relationships where God meets our needs as His children, providing love, encouragement, and lasting friendship.
