Two months ago I started the Chester County Coffee Club here in PA.
During a period of time when I was unemployed, I realized something that honestly surprised me—I didn’t really have a community to share time with, or even just the everyday challenges of life. I looked for something that felt right, something that felt real, but nothing quite fit. So I decided to make it myself.
Today we hosted our second gathering at Forage Books and although it was small, it was perfect.
Just women coming together over coffee, talking about life and laughing about the best, worst, and silliest books we’ve read. No pressure, no expectations—just genuine time spent together. And what I loved most is that it didn’t matter what stage of life anyone was in… everyone just showed up as they were.
And that’s exactly what I hoped this would become 🤍

Starting the Chester County Coffee Club during a time of personal unemployment truly opened my eyes to the power of community. When I realized how much I was missing genuine social interaction, especially with women who could relate to life’s ups and downs, I took the initiative to create a space where everyone felt accepted just as they were. Our gatherings, like the recent one at Forage Books, may be small, but their impact is profound. Each meet-up offers a relaxed environment for sharing stories about daily life and the books we love or find silly, fostering connections beyond mere casual conversation. The joy comes not just from the coffee itself but from the sense of belonging and support among women at various life stages. Whether someone is navigating career changes, personal challenges, or simply seeking friendship, our club welcomes all with open arms. One thing I’ve found is the importance of a no-pressure atmosphere. Many social groups can feel intimidating or formal, but our goal was to create a warm, inviting vibe where authenticity thrives. Holding the gatherings in cozy, local spots like Forage Books enriches the experience, merging the comfort of a community hub with shared interests such as literature and everyday experiences. For those thinking about starting a similar group, I encourage focusing on inclusivity and openness. It’s less about numbers and more about quality interactions. Whether discussing thought-provoking novels like "Feral Gods" or lighter reads that spark laughter, the conversations become the heart of the event. Over time, these meetings build trust, spark friendships, and remind us that community can be made with intention and care. If you’re searching for connection, consider how a simple idea—sharing coffee and stories in a relaxed setting—can bring profound support and joy. The Chester County Coffee Club is a testament to how creating your own community can fill the gaps you didn’t realize were there, offering a space to be seen, heard, and valued.
