Confessions of a shopaholic…

My hubby and I are trying to better ourselves financially so we can live the life we want to!

That means paying off our credit cards and cars… we aren’t in a huge amount of trouble, we’ve never been late on payments, credit cards aren’t maxed out, but we are living a little beyond our means and we want to get into a better spot so we can give our little boy everything we can. That means less shopping for me ( I admit I have an addiction and love to shop!) and for my husband to just be more responsible. We both work full time and drive newer vehicles so our credit cards are definitely what will need to go first. I started trying to do this back in January and did very well (lowered my c.c. By $4000) but I have since raised it again by $1500 and it’s back up to owing $5800 on my credit card. Not a huge amount but with batteries in cars and weddings and baby showers, it added up quickly. My goal is to get it paid off by the end of the year but that will mean some hard work by me. I have a spreadsheet on my computer where I track my owed amount weekly and have cancelled subscriptions I don’t think I need anymore. Hoping this helps as well!! I also have a Poshmark if anyone is interested in that!

Any other tips for me???

Consider applying the snowball method to manage debt—start with paying off the smallest debts first to gain momentum. Furthermore, using coupons and looking for seasonal sales can significantly reduce unnecessary spending, allowing you to save more effectively. Incorporating technology by using budgeting apps or spreadsheets can also help track expenses and highlight spending patterns that may be contributing to debt. A weekly review of your financial status is beneficial, as it encourages accountability and reinforces better spending habits. Don't hesitate to declutter and sell items you no longer need. Platforms like Poshmark can turn unwanted items into cash, aiding your debt repayment process. Lastly, it’s vital to embrace vulnerability and seek support from friends or online communities. Sharing experiences and tips within forums like #debtfreejourney can provide motivation and accountability. Remember, financial stability is a journey, and every small step you take contributes to your overall goal.
