Winter Fox WIP

I totally get it – sometimes you see a beautiful snow fox and just have to try drawing it, but it can feel a little intimidating! When I first started out, I always looked for ways to make complex subjects like animals feel more approachable. Here are some of my go-to tips for making a snowy fox drawing easy and fun, whether you're just sketching or diving into paint, just like my own work in progress! First things first, don't overthink it! The key to an 'easy' drawing is breaking down the complex into simple shapes. For a fox, I always start with a few basic circles and ovals. Think of a larger oval for the body, a slightly smaller one for the head, and then two smaller triangles for the ears. Once you have these foundational shapes, it's so much easier to connect them with flowing lines to form the fox's silhouette. This method really helps demystify the initial blank canvas fear. Next, let's talk about those gorgeous snowy details and the fox's fur. It's tempting to want to draw every single strand of fur, but for an easy approach, focus on the texture and flow of the fur rather than individual hairs. You don't have to copy every single detail. Pick out the most characteristic features – the sly eyes, the perked ears, the bushy tail – and exaggerate them slightly to capture the fox's personality.
