New Keeb: Royal Kludge S98
Hey friends! Royal Kludge kindly sent over this keyboard to review, so let’s get into it 🤍
First thing, I love the color combination! The muted blues against the beige look cozy and clean.
I picked out the pale green tactile switches and they feel smooth and satisfying to type with. The sound was pleasant but might be a bit loud for an office setting.
My favorite part about this keyboard is the display screen. You can control the rgb, connection mode, time, and gifs!
The software was easy to install and navigate. I was able to upload this cinnamoroll gif with no issues.
Very cool keyboard for 💰Price: $129.99 ☺️

After spending more time with my Royal Kludge S98, I've really started appreciating the thoughtful design aspects that make it stand out. Beyond the initial excitement of its muted color scheme, which truly creates a cozy vibe on my desk, the keyboard’s functionality continues to impress. Let's talk about the numeric keypad, which I know many of you are curious about! Having a dedicated numpad is a game-changer for anyone who frequently deals with data entry, spreadsheets, or even just quick calculations. I find myself using it far more often than I anticipated, especially when navigating programs or inputting numerical sequences. The keys on the numpad share the same satisfying tactile feel as the main keys, with that smooth, responsive feedback from the pale green switches. It's not just an add-on; it feels like an integral, well-designed part of the keyboard's overall layout, making workflows much more efficient without sacrificing the compact feel of a 98-key layout. The display screen remains a personal favorite. While uploading fun Cinnamoroll gifs is a delight, its practical uses are equally valuable. I can glance down to check the time, monitor the connection status (whether I'm using Bluetooth or the 2.4GHz wireless dongle), and even quickly switch RGB lighting modes without diving into software. It's a fantastic little hub that adds a premium touch and truly enhances the user experience. The software, as I mentioned, is surprisingly intuitive. Customizing the RGB patterns beyond what's on the screen, remapping keys, and even setting up basic macros was straightforward, which isn't always the case with mechanical keyboard software. Regarding the pale green tactile switches, they strike a wonderful balance. They offer a distinct bump that provides satisfying feedback without being overly heavy or requiring too much actuation force. While the sound might be too 'present' for a super quiet office environment, for home use or a gaming setup, it's a pleasant, slightly thocky sound that doesn't feel hollow or cheap. It truly makes typing a more enjoyable experience, whether I'm writing emails, coding, or diving into a gaming session. The overall build quality for the $129.99 price point feels excellent. The keyboard has a solid weight to it, preventing any unwanted sliding during intense typing or gaming. The keycaps feel durable and comfortable under my fingertips. It’s clear Royal Kludge put thought into both the aesthetics and the practical performance. If you're looking for a versatile mechanical keyboard that blends aesthetics with strong performance, especially if a functional numpad and a unique display screen are on your wishlist, the RK S98 is definitely worth considering for your tech setup.
