Obedience > Comfort ✝️

I’m not one to speak in front of crowds or want all the attention on myself…….but God; that phrase has more power than I do in my entire body! Discipleship is important to me because I grew up “knowing the cross” but never “carrying the cross”. Today, and every day, we carry it. Obedience in what God calls trumps anxiety in all situations.

In my experience, embracing obedience as a priority over comfort has profoundly shaped my spiritual journey. It's easy to understand the concept of the cross intellectually, but truly living it means carrying burdens that stretch us beyond our comfort zones. I recall moments when anxiety tempted me to retreat, yet choosing obedience through prayer and faith brought unexpected peace. This choice is echoed in the powerful reminder from 1 Thessalonians 5:11 that "You are chosen, you are seen, and most importantly, you are loved." Remembering this scripture helped me realize that obedience is not about striving alone but about walking confidently in God’s love and purpose for us. Discipleship requires us to step out of our comfort and confront challenges, knowing that God’s strength supports us. By choosing obedience, we grow in resilience, character, and faith—even when anxiety tries to dominate our thoughts. Personally, daily discipline in prayer and reflection helped me carry the cross patiently and joyfully, reinforcing that true comfort is found in surrendering to God's will rather than avoiding discomfort. If you’re facing anxiety or doubt, I encourage you to lean into obedience, trusting that God’s call is stronger than any fear we may carry.
