Each piece I create is not just a drawing or painting—it is a statement of love and pride. The hashtag #Blackgirlsarekawaii perfectly captures this sentiment by blending cultural appreciation with personal identity.
From my personal experience, portraying Black women in art has been a journey of self-acceptance and celebration. It bridges my past experiences and the present narrative, allowing me to highlight the strength, grace, and uniqueness of Black women. I believe art has the power to influence societal perceptions, helping to foster a more inclusive definition of beauty.
In my artworks, I aim to counter the mainstream lack of representation by focusing on authentic and beautiful portrayals. Inspiration often comes from everyday moments, cultural heritage, and the resilience I see in the community around me. Every stroke is intentional and meaningful, reflecting a deep respect for the subject.
Sharing this creative journey has also connected me with others who share similar experiences and passions. It’s an ongoing dialogue—not only about art but about identity, pride, and empowerment. I encourage everyone to embrace their unique beauty and express it boldly, just as I have through my self-portrait and the art I create.
