this why I hate co-op too many sweats 😭☠️
Okay, fellow Tarnished and Undead, I totally get it. Sometimes, jumping into co-op in Elden Ring or Dark Souls feels less like a glorious adventure and more like an exercise in patience... or pure exasperation! The original post nailed it – “too many sweats” can absolutely ruin the vibe. But it's not just the try-hards; there's a whole spectrum of co-op antics that can turn a fun session into a rage-quit moment. Let's talk about those infamous “sweats.” You know the type: the ones who treat every boss fight like an esports final, spending what feels like an eternity applying every single buff in their arsenal while you're just standing there, awkwardly waiting. “Mf had us all waiting for his buffs just for ts,” as someone once put it perfectly. It breaks the immersion, kills the pacing, and honestly, makes you wonder if they even need you there! It's like watching a pre-fight ritual that lasts longer than the actual fight, and then they still manage to get clapped by the boss, leaving you to finish it solo. Talk about unbalanced! Then there's the “Host of Fingers” dynamic. Sometimes you get an amazing host who leads wisely, communicates (even if through emotes), and genuinely makes the experience better. Other times, you get someone who runs headfirst into danger, ignores all common sense, or worse, just stands around, leaving you to clear the path. I've had hosts who activate the summon sign, then immediately run off, leaving me to catch up or stumble into enemies solo. Or the classic “Touch bloodstain” host who dies in the most ridiculous way, then immediately resummon you without learning a thing. It’s a gamble every time you offer your aid! And with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, a new layer of potential confusion has been added. I've encountered hosts who seem utterly bewildered by the new mechanics, like the “Scadutree Fragment” system. You're trying to help them navigate the new area, but they're just asking, “what Scadutree Fragment Ivl is bro...,” completely lost on how to power up or progress effectively. It's frustrating when you're trying to be a good summon, but the host isn't quite up to speed, or worse, ignores your attempts to guide them. It makes you feel like you're playing a babysitting simulator rather than a challenging co-op adventure. It really boils down to co-op etiquette, or the lack thereof. There are unwritten rules: don't rush into a boss without your summons, don't hog all the healing flasks, and for goodness sake, don't spend five minutes buffing if the enemy is literally right there! A little communication, a bit of patience, and a willingness to actually co-operate go a long way. When you find a host or a fellow summon who just gets it, those are the sessions that make all the frustrating ones worth it. It’s about sharing the struggle and the triumph, not just brute-forcing your way through. What are your biggest co-op pet peeves in Elden Ring or Dark Souls? Have you had any hilarious or horrifying “Host of Fingers” moments? Let's commiserate! Despite all the annoyances, the thrill of overcoming a colossal foe with a companion is why we keep putting our signs down. But a little less “sweat” and a lot more teamwork would definitely make the Lands Between a more welcoming place for jolly co-operation.
