จากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวในการอ่านนิยายวรรณกรรมพีเรียดไทย พบว่าเรื่องราวที่ยึดโยงกับประวัติศาสตร์และสังคมจริงช่วยให้ผู้อ่านเข้าใจความรู้สึกของตัวละครได้ลึกซึ้งขึ้นอย่างมาก นิยายเรื่องนี้ที่ว่า "จวบระพีอัสดง" เล่าเรื่องระหว่างยุคที่ไทยมีเปลี่ยนแปลงการปกครองและสถานการณ์สงครามโลกครั้งที่สอง จึงเต็มไปด้วยแง่มุมของความขัดแย้งทางชนชั้นและความคับข้องใจของตัวละครหลักอย่าง "ระพี" ซึ่งเป็นลูกชายนายทหารใหญ่แต่ต้องพบกับการถูกมองในฐานะลูกบ่าว นี่สะท้อนให้เห็นว่าภายนอกที่ดูเหมือนมีสิทธิพิเศษจริงแต่ข้างในกลับเต็มไปด้วยความโดดเดี่ยวและถูกกีดกันในสังคมอย่างไร จุดเด่นอีกอย่างที่ชอบมากคือเรื่องราวความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างระพี กับ นิ่ม ซึ่งเป็นความรักที่หวานปนขม เพราะต้องเผชิญข้อจำกัดความรักชายรักชายในสมัยนั้นที่ยังไม่ได้รับการยอมรับ ความสัมพันธ์จึงต้องเก็บซ่อนและกดดันอยู่ตลอดเวลา ในฐานะผู้ที่ชอบค้นหานิยายไทยที่ถ่ายทอดประเด็นสังคม การได้เห็นว่า "จวบระพีอัสดง" แทรกซึมประเด็นความเหลื่อมล้ำและข้อจำกัดด้านชนชั้น ทำให้รู้สึกว่ามันไม่ใช่แค่เรื่องรักโรแมนติกแต่ยังสะท้อนปัญหาสังคมได้อย่างลึกซึ้ง นอกจากนี้ การใช้ภาษาของนิยายเรื่องนี้ก็เป็นอีกหนึ่งเหตุผลที่ทำให้อ่านเพลิดเพลินและเข้าใจตัวละครได้ง่ายมาก ภาษาที่ไม่ซับซ้อนแต่มีความละมุนละไม บ่งบอกถึงความใส่ใจในการใส่อารมณ์และความรู้สึกโดยไม่จำเป็นต้องใช้คำหรูหราหรือตรึงเครียด สุดท้ายตัวละครนิ่มซึ่งเป็นผู้ส่งเสริมและอยู่เคียงข้างระพีอย่างเงียบๆ ก็ทำให้ผู้เขียนบทความนี้ประทับใจอย่างมาก มันเหมือนกับว่าแม้ไม่ได้อยู่ด้วยกันตลอดแต่ความเสียสละและความรักที่แท้จริง คือการเห็นคนที่เรารักมีความสุข ซึ่งเป็นความหมายลึกซึ้งที่สามารถสัมผัสได้จากเรื่องนี้ ถ้าใครกำลังมองหานิยายที่อ่านแล้วได้ทั้งความรู้สึกอิ่มเอมในความรัก และแง่มุมทางสังคมควบคู่ไปด้วย "จวบระพีอัสดง" น่าจะเป็นตัวเลือกที่ดี อย่างน้อยก็ทำให้ได้ย้อนไปถึงความจริงและปัญหาที่สังคมเคยผ่านมาก่อนได้อย่างไม่ซ้ำใคร
