Grand opening! (Solo adventures, Part1)
Am I posting this way after the fact?
Yes, yes I am but it's me. It's kind of like my brand at this point.
A few weeks ago, I went to the grand opening of Dov & Co. It's a very cute crafty place here in the dmv area. Oh, yeah. If I haven't mentioned it on here before, I am a Dmv girly and sometimes I wish I wasn't. lol
Anywho...I love this place with all my heart and the girlies who run it are the absolute sweetest people! It's run by two sisters, Sofia & Maria. They host crafting events and each event is different. I've gone to their junk journaling workshop, their fake cake decorating event, and now their grand opening event where we made bookmarks. They do provide demonstrations during the events, which I like as someone who is just now exploring their crafty side as an adult. They are located in the Ballston Quarters (formally know as the Ballston Mall). So if you are looking for a place to go and just sit down and do something crafty, please check them out! They didn't ask me to post this, I just genuinely love and respect this place and would love to see good things come their way. 😊 I also think we need more 3rd spaces in VA, so please check them out! 🌸

As someone who has recently started diving into creative hobbies as an adult, finding a welcoming and resourceful space like Dov & Co has been truly inspiring. Their approach to crafting events—ranging from junk journaling workshops to fake cake decorating and handmade bookmarks—offers a refreshing variety that keeps every visit exciting and educational. What makes Dov & Co stand out is not just the activities but the genuine community atmosphere created by the owner sisters, Sofia and Maria. They are hands-on hosts who provide demonstrations, making it accessible for beginners like me to follow along and enjoy crafting without feeling overwhelmed. This level of personal engagement really helps build confidence in developing a new skill. Located conveniently in Ballston Quarters, formerly known as Ballston Mall, the venue feels like a cozy third space where you can escape the everyday hustle to unwind and create. For anyone living in the DMV area—and especially for those like me who sometimes feel tethered to local trends or routines—places like this are a breath of fresh air. I also appreciate their commitment to nurturing creativity among all age groups. Participating in the grand opening event where we made bookmarks allowed me to connect with others who share a passion for crafting, creating a sense of belonging that motivates me to attend more such events. Interestingly, the theme of spring renewal resonated through the event, symbolized by a cherry blossom tree noted on 3/28/26—an emblem of growth and beauty that ties well with the spirit of new creative beginnings fostered at Dov & Co. If you’re searching for something fun and fulfilling to do in the DMV area, or if you simply want to explore your creative side in a supportive environment, I highly recommend checking out Dov & Co. It’s more than just a craft store; it’s a community hub that encourages expression and learning. Plus, supporting local independent spaces like this helps strengthen the diverse cultural fabric of our area. Give it a try—you might just discover a new hobby and new friends along the way.
