Rise and glow

There was a time I wanted a seat at every table.

Work tables. Social tables. Family tables.

I thought being included everywhere meant I was loved and successful.

Then life happened.

I went through heartbreak, loss, and some very painful situations where I realised something important:

not every room you’re invited into is healthy for your soul.

I’ve seen what gossip, comparison and hidden jealousy can do.

I’ve felt what it’s like to give my energy to people who only wanted a story, not my wellbeing.

I’ve sat at tables where everyone talked about other people, but no one talked about healing, goals, money, faith, or growth.

That’s why I believe so strongly in this now:

👉🏽 I don’t need a seat everywhere. I choose the tables where we build, not backbite.

Today I’m more intentional:

• I choose conversations that stretch my mind, not shrink my heart.

• I protect my peace, even if that means having a smaller circle.

• I sit with people who talk about plans, progress and purpose – not just problems.

This isn’t arrogance. It’s self-respect, hard-earned from my own journey.

If you’re in a season of outgrowing certain rooms, just know: it’s okay to stand up and walk away. Your table is waiting. 🤍

However, as shared in the inspiring reflection "I don't need a seat everywhere. I choose the tables where we build, not backbite," it's crucial to prioritize environments that support our wellbeing. The journey of outgrowing certain groups often begins with recognizing the negative impact of gossip, jealousy, and draining energy exchanges on our mental health. Choosing the right "tables" means surrounding yourself with people who encourage progress, healing, and meaningful goals instead of just focusing on problems or idle talk. This intentional selection nurtures personal growth and protects your emotional peace, even if it means having a smaller circle. Self-respect is cultivated when you consciously distance yourself from toxic situations and seek communities aligned with your values. If you find yourself in unhealthy spaces, it’s empowering to realize that walking away is a sign of strength, not arrogance. Your rightful place is with those who uplift and inspire you. Nourishing relationships that stimulate your mind and soul enable long-term fulfillment. Remember, not every invitation is a blessing; some rooms may not be good for your soul. Be mindful and deliberate in where you invest your energy. By choosing to rise and glow in spaces that build you up, you'll experience deeper connections, meaningful conversations, and a life filled with purpose and peace.
