Rocket is the master of movement
Rocket isn’t always the best choice depending on composition. But he’s sure a good one
When I first started playing Marvel Rivals, I quickly realized that mastering a character's unique abilities was key to winning. For Rocket Raccoon, it all comes down to his movement. Seriously, Rocket's movement is unrivaled, and once you get a feel for it, you'll be zipping around the map, making enemies wonder where you went! I've spent a lot of time figuring out the best ways to utilize his agility, especially when it comes to those frequent, crucial actions that turn the tide of a match. Here’s what I've learned: 1. The Art of the Jetpack Dash: Rocket’s jetpack isn't just for looking cool; it's your primary escape and engagement tool. I always try to save at least one dash charge for emergencies. Whether I'm dodging an ultimate ability, repositioning for a better angle, or quickly getting to an objective, a well-timed jetpack dash makes all the difference. Practice chaining dashes with small jumps to cover more ground unpredictably. This unrivaled movement ability makes him incredibly slippery! 2. High Ground Dominance: Due to his size and jetpack, Rocket is fantastic at taking the high ground. I constantly look for elevated positions to rain down fire. Not only does this give you a vantage point, but it also makes it harder for melee characters to reach you. When an enemy tries to climb up, a quick jetpack boost can put you out of their reach again, forcing them to disengage or be picked off. 3. Hit-and-Run Tactics: Rocket isn't meant to stand still and tank damage. His movement allows for classic hit-and-run strategies. I like to burst down an enemy, then immediately use my movement abilities to duck behind cover or reposition. This keeps you alive longer and constantly applies pressure. Don't be afraid to disengage if things get too hot; Rocket's strength is his ability to get in and out quickly. 4. Small Hitbox Advantage: One of Rocket's subtle but powerful movement advantages is his small hitbox. While not directly a 'movement ability,' it synergizes perfectly. By constantly moving erratically – jumping, strafing, and dashing – you become incredibly difficult to hit. I often find myself surviving situations where bigger, slower characters would be eliminated thanks to this combination of small size and swift movement. 5. Flanking and Surprise Attacks: Use Rocket's mobility to go around enemy lines. Instead of always pushing with your team, look for opportunities to flank. I love using side routes or taking advantage of verticality to get behind unsuspecting enemies. A well-placed cluster grenade or a burst of shots from an unexpected angle can turn a team fight in your favor. This is where his unrivaled movement truly shines in creating chaos. 6. Objective Control: Rocket’s ability to quickly traverse maps makes him excellent for contesting or securing objectives. If you need to get to a capture point or intercept an enemy, his movement speed and dashes allow him to arrive faster than many other characters. I've won games simply by being able to reach an objective just in time to prevent a capture or push. Mastering these frequent actions with Rocket will elevate your gameplay and make you a force to be reckoned with in Marvel Rivals!
