6 Things I Thought Would Make Me Happy but Didn’t

I spent a long time chasing the idea of happiness —

without realizing I was just decorating my anxiety.

These 6 things look good on the outside.

But they didn’t give me peace.

Growth came when I stopped performing and started asking what I actually needed.

📌 Save this post for when you start spiraling again.

... Read moreIn the quest for happiness, many of us pursue ideals that society promotes, only to find they don't lead to true fulfillment. For example, aesthetically pleasing routines can create an illusion of contentment; however, if internal peace is lacking, they serve merely as distractions. The pursuit of proving others wrong, dubbed 'revenge glow-ups,' can also feel hollow once the validation fades. Furthermore, adhering to a definition of success shaped by others, alongside the near-obsessive focus on physical appearance, often leaves individuals feeling exhausted and unworthy. Rather than seeking approval through these superficial goals, personal growth comes from embracing one's true self. Another common misconception is that being low maintenance translates to humility; it often results in self-neglect, where individuals prioritize others over their well-being. Lastly, a productivity-driven lifestyle may create an illusion of achievement, yet it can lead to burnout and a sense of being less than human. Real peace starts when we reclaim our time and focus on what truly matters. By shifting our perspective and prioritizing mental wellness, we can foster genuine happiness that is not defined by societal standards, but by our own desires.

The Pill I Didn’t Want to Need — and Why I Take It
This is your reminder that taking medication doesn’t make you weak, broken, or “less than.” Sometimes it just makes life livable. I’ve been on Zoloft (sertraline) for 17 years. Seventeen. And if I’m being honest, I wish I didn’t need to take something for the rest of my life just to function. I’
