If you can’t rest without feeling guilty 👇

You were taught that your value comes from output. That slowing down is falling behind. That being still means being lazy.

But here’s the truth: If you feel guilty when you rest, it’s not because you’re lazy. It’s because rest was never safe for you.

Somewhere along the way, rest became associated with shame. Or danger. Or rejection.

And when you carry that into adulthood, you don’t just work hard — you can’t stop working. Even when you’re breaking.

📚 The Body Keeps the Score taught me that your body keeps the record of the pressure you tried to bury.

📘 Deep Work reminded me that focus is sacred — but only possible when you’re not burning at both ends.

So if this is your era of reclaiming rest, I’m with you.

Your nervous system doesn’t need more goals.

It needs more grace.

Wow! This is my life! My mom would never let us sit down or read a book. She thought that was laziness. I’ll be 76 on sept 19th and I still feel guilty if I’m not burning the candle at both ends! Thank you for this!
