What resonated deeply with me is the idea that before adding something new, whether it's a routine, habit, or goal, we need to understand what we might be protecting, avoiding, or trying to hold together emotionally. This pause isn’t about productivity hacks or discipline; it’s about tuning into the underlying feelings and patterns driving our efforts. From personal experience, when I took moments to sit quietly and journal about my feelings of resistance or repeated behaviors, I gained clarity on what inner conflicts were sabotaging my progress. This reflection helped me shift from self-criticism to compassion, which in turn made my actions more aligned and sustainable. Using methods like mindful breathing or re-reading impactful passages from 'The Mountain Is You' during challenging times has been a way to reconnect with myself before rushing toward change. This intentional slowing down revealed that my push wasn’t always toward improvement but sometimes an unconscious attempt to avoid discomfort.
