When I left for this trip almost two years ago, I hadn’t been on a plane since 2018, left the East Coast since 2021, and it was the first time l had been more than 5 hours from home since 2021, and my first solo trip really ever. I had never been to Colorado either.

I was going to an unknown place where the people made the unknown place a home.

This trip forced me to be comfortable in the uncomfortable of traveling alone from one state to another, one airport to the next; to be confident in myself, my decisions and actions; to embrace every moment; to see the beauty of what is right in front of me; to take a step back and pause to truly understand all that is happening around and within me.

I remember 2023 being a year where I questioned the purpose of existence. Wondered how there could be beauty when all I felt was pain.

I'm not sure how to express how what would be a

"small visit to see friends in a new state" for most was a life changing experience for me.

Maybe it was the high altitudes, the literal floating in the clouds; the aspect of going to a new place; or being surrounded by people I truly love - whatever it was l'm not sure but l'm thankful I got to experience it.
