My Experience With Prozac.
My Experience With Prozac (Fluoxetine)
I used prozac around may 2022 for OCD related symptoms and anxiety. I started at 10mg
20mg- i didnt feel much but weirdly lost my appetite within 2 weeks we went up to 30mg
30mg- I started to feel it slightly but this is when I noticed a crash in my libido. I had to told my doctor this and she proceeded to say its all mental. We then went up to 40 mg
40mg- weird as it sounds on 40mg I noticed a crazy erection quality and libido and i felt the best i ever did in my life. However i thought the more the better and asked my doctor if we can go to 50mg
Once we went up to 50mg my libido crashed and the sexual dysfunction was pretty bad. Around march 2022 i got off prozac for 1 month and wasnt on any medication. Prozac definitely did the job for my mental health but libido issues weren’t worth it. #ssri #mentalhealth #ocd
Prozac, also known as Fluoxetine, is a widely prescribed selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat disorders like OCD and anxiety. Many patients find varying responses to dosage adjustments. While starting at 10mg, it took a few weeks before I began to notice effects, with increased dosages leading to both positive improvements and troubling side effects. As I navigated through the doses of Prozac, I learned that while 40mg offered me the best mental clarity and mood stabilization, it also resulted in significant sexual dysfunction, which left me questioning the benefits of the medication. This reflects a common experience among many users of SSRIs, where mental health improvements are often balanced against unwanted side effects. It's important for anyone considering or currently taking Prozac to communicate openly with their healthcare provider about their experiences, as adjustments are sometimes necessary to achieve an optimal balance between mental health benefits and quality of life. Additionally, understanding the connection between SSRIs and sexual side effects can empower patients to make informed decisions in partnership with their healthcare professionals.
