Hey declutter buddies! 👋 So, you've seen my recent perfume purge, and it got me thinking a lot about the bigger picture: diving into a full-blown 14-day declutter challenge! If you're anything like me, you might be feeling overwhelmed by all the stuff accumulated over the year, and a structured challenge can be just what we need to get started. I wanted to share some thoughts and tips on how to approach a 14-day declutter, making it less daunting and more rewarding. First off, what is a 14-day declutter challenge? It's basically a commitment to declutter a specific area or category of your home each day for two weeks. The beauty of it is that it breaks down a huge task into manageable chunks, making it feel achievable rather than overwhelming. It’s not about becoming a minimalist overnight, but about creating more space, clarity, and peace in your surroundings. How to Start Your Own 14-Day Declutter Journey: Set Your Intention: Before you even touch an item, think about why you want to declutter. Is it to reduce stress? Create a more functional space? Make room for new things? For me, it was definitely about feeling lighter and more organized after seeing my collection of perfume bottles, some of which I hadn't touched in ages. Create a Schedule (Flexible!): You don't need a rigid, military-style plan. Just a general idea of what you'll tackle when. Here’s a sample schedule, but feel free to adapt it to your own home and needs: Day 1: Entryway/Coat Closet Day 2: Bathroom Counters & Drawers Day 3: Bedroom Dresser/Nightstands Day 4: Books & Magazines Day 5: Fragrances & Beauty Products (This is where my recent perfume declutter, featuring items like Hanae Mori Hanae and Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina, would fit perfectly! Think about those half-empty bottles or scents you no longer love.) Day 6: Kitchen Pantry (one shelf) Day 7: Kitchen Utensils & Drawers Day 8: Desk & Office Supplies Day 9: Digital Declutter (photos, emails!) Day 10: Closet (clothes you haven't worn in a year) Day 11: Linens & Towels Day 12: Decor & Knick-knacks (Like that silver decorative tray with glitter – maybe it’s time to rethink what goes on it!) Day 13: Sentimental Items (photos, cards – be gentle here!) Day 14: Review & Reorganize (find homes for everything, drop off donations) The "Keep, Donate, Trash" Rule: For every item, ask yourself: Do I use this regularly? Does it bring me joy or serve a practical purpose? Would I buy this today? If the answer is no to most, it’s likely time to let it go. It was tough saying goodbye to some of my perfumes, like that pink heart-shaped Bebe bottle, but knowing they'll find a new home or are simply making space for items I truly adore made it easier. One Small Step Per Day: The key is consistency, not perfection. Even just 15-30 minutes a day can make a huge difference over 14 days. Don't try to declutter your entire wardrobe in one go if you've only allotted an hour. Celebrate Your Progress: Each day you complete a task, acknowledge it! Share your wins with friends, or just appreciate the clearer space you're creating. It’s super motivating to see how much you can achieve. Embracing a declutter challenge isn't just about tidying up; it's about making intentional choices about what you allow into your life and your space. It's a journey towards a more organized, peaceful, and functional environment. Who's ready to join me on this journey and transform their space, one day at a time? Let’s make our homes feel incredible!
