My Bedside Cart ✨🫶

Top Shelf: The top shelf is where I keep my diapers and wipes and any diaper cream and lotion that I will need with every diaper change so it’s easily accessible.

Middle shelf: The middle shelf is where I keep things like a changing pad, a change of clothes, and some wash cloths. These are things I may not need for every diaper change but are available for emergencies.

Bottom shelf: The bottom shelf is where I keep all the extra baby/bf items that I may hardly ever use but want to keep organized and easy to find when I do need them such as, breast warmers for bf, nose suckers, etc…

... Read moreWhen you're navigating the beautiful chaos of bringing a newborn home, especially during postpartum recovery, having a well-organized bedside cart isn't just a convenience – it's a game-changer for your sanity and sleep. I remember those first few weeks, the thought of walking to the changing table across the room in the middle of the night felt like a marathon. That's why setting up a dedicated bedside cart for newborn essentials became one of my top priorities, and it truly made a world of difference for our family. This isn't just about throwing things into a caddy; it's about strategic placement for those urgent moments. My trusty pink three-tiered bedside cart, similar to the one you might imagine, became the command center for all things baby-related right next to my bed. Let's dive a little deeper into what makes each shelf a lifesaver. On the top shelf, where the original content focuses on diapers, wipes, and cream, I'd emphasize having plenty of stock. Think about those newborn output frequencies! I kept at least a day's worth of diapers, a full pack of sensitive baby wipes (because blowouts happen!), and a healing diaper cream readily available. But also, consider a small hand sanitizer for yourself and perhaps a tiny trash bag liner for soiled diapers before you can get them to the main trash. The middle shelf is where you can truly minimize those 'what if' moments. Beyond a changing pad and a change of clothes (I always had at least two clean onesies and a pair of pants, just in case of a bigger mess), I found washcloths to be incredibly versatile for spit-ups or quick clean-ups. You might also want to include a small burp cloth or two, a nasal aspirator (hello, tiny stuffy noses!), and perhaps a soft baby brush for cradle cap. These are items you might not use every time, but when you need them, you need them *now*. My bottom shelf, as mentioned, was for the less frequent but equally important items, like breast warmers if you're breastfeeding, or a nose sucker. This is also a perfect spot for that 'baby basics kit' I've seen mentioned – containing things like a baby thermometer, nail clippers or file, and baby-safe Tylenol (always consult your pediatrician!). I also found it useful for storing extra pacifiers, a small book for quiet moments, or even a small night light that casts a gentle glow without fully waking everyone up. But don't forget yourself, mama! While this is primarily a newborn bedside cart, a new mom's needs are paramount, especially postpartum. Having a water bottle, some easy-to-grab snacks (granola bars, fruit), nipple cream, pain relievers, and even your phone charger within arm's reach on one of the shelves will be a blessing. Those first few weeks are a blur, and minimizing movement and maximizing convenience will help you recover faster and enjoy those precious, sleepy snuggles even more. Ultimately, this bedside setup is about creating an efficient, comforting, and easily accessible station for both you and your baby. It evolves with your needs, but starting with a solid foundation of essentials will make those early days smoother, allowing you to focus on bonding and resting.
