Where Can I Escape From You Oh Lord?

I know I have. There have been moments when I wished I could simply ask the darkness to hide me, and for the light around me to become night, just so I could escape. But then I remember the profound truth found in Psalms 139:11-12, and it changes everything. The scripture says, "but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you." This isn't a scary thought, but an incredibly comforting one. It's a reminder that no matter how deep the shadows, how heavy the burden, or how much we feel like we want to pull away, God is there. He sees us. For me, understanding that "darkness and light are the same to you" means there's no part of my life, no secret struggle, no hidden fear that is outside of God's loving gaze. It's not about being judged, but about being fully known and fully loved. When I'm feeling ashamed, this verse reminds me that His grace covers even those moments. When I'm lonely, it tells me I'm never truly alone because His presence is constant. Think about it: in our human experience, darkness often symbolizes fear, uncertainty, or hidden truths. It’s an assurance that even when we feel lost at sea or in the depths of despair, He's actively present, ready to lift us up. So, how do we live by this powerful truth from Psalm 139:11-12? For me, it means practicing radical honesty with God. Instead of trying to put on a brave face, I talk to Him about my fears, my doubts, and even my failures. It also means trusting that His perfect vision isn't about condemnation, but about restoration. It's about letting go of the need to control appearances and resting in the fact that I am completely visible and completely cherished by Him. When I embrace this, a profound peace settles over me, knowing that my God is always near, always watching over me with unwavering love.
