Nature week!!!
My design for Nature week! To be honest it's not my best. Icecream week was amazing but I forgot to take a picture and I'm pretty dang sad about it. I'm trying to take a picture of it every week from here on out. #lemon8diarychallenge
I've completely fallen in love with using my whiteboard to bring a bit of 'happy summer' cheer into our home, especially as a way to organize those busy summer days! It's so much more than just a place to jot notes; it's a dynamic canvas that reflects the joy and energy of the season. For instance, my latest design centered around a 'Nature Week' theme, complete with charming drawings of clouds, grass, a snail, a ladybug, and even a little blue bird. I even added 'HAPPY SUMMER' in a fun font with a delicate rose illustration, as seen on my current board. It really makes the daily schedule pop! One of my favorite things about a summer whiteboard is how versatile it is. While a 'Nature Week' schedule is fantastic for exploring the outdoors, you could easily switch themes. Imagine a 'Beach Week' board with waves, seashells, and maybe a little sun. Or how about a 'Foodie Fun Week' where you list out all the yummy summer treats you want to try – speaking of which, I'm still sad I didn't snap a photo of my amazing 'Ice Cream Week' board! Lesson learned, now I try to capture every week's design. When it comes to decorating your 'happy summer whiteboard,' don't feel pressured to be an artist. Simple doodles can make a huge impact. For my Nature Week, I kept it easy: fluffy clouds, wavy grass at the bottom, and then added little critters like a snail and a ladybug. A bright blue bird can add a pop of color. The key is to make it visually engaging and seasonal. Using different colored markers can also help differentiate sections or highlight important activities. Beyond just pretty pictures, the real magic happens when you use it to plan. The OCR for my current board shows a schedule from July 29th to August 2nd, featuring everyday activities like free play, designated meal times, and even nap time. This structured approach, especially during summer when routines can go out of the window, is a lifesaver. It helps everyone know what to expect, reducing arguments and bringing a sense of calm. I find it super helpful to list out morning activities, afternoon adventures, and evening wind-down routines. But why stop at just a daily schedule? Your 'happy summer whiteboard' can be so much more! I often dedicate a section to our 'Summer Bucket List,' where we brainstorm all the fun things we want to do before fall arrives, like visiting the local splash pad or having a picnic in the park. It's also fantastic for a simple chore chart, assigning small tasks to keep the house tidy, or even for meal planning to avoid that dreaded "what's for dinner?" question every night. Sometimes, I just use it to write inspiring summer quotes or a weekly goal. For materials, good quality dry-erase markers are a must – vibrant colors make a difference. And don't forget a proper whiteboard cleaner to keep it looking fresh. I usually wipe mine down at the end of each week before starting a new theme. Ultimately, the goal is to make your summer a bit happier and more organized. Don't stress if your design isn't 'perfect' – mine certainly aren't always! It's about the process of engaging with your family, getting creative, and making the most of those sunny days. I’m making an effort to photograph all my whiteboard designs from now on, sharing the journey and hopefully inspiring a little summer joy in your home too!
