Validation Came Right on Time 💯
I was sitting down today planning for Palm & Petal—ordering materials, mapping out new products, refining what’s next. When I got to my dragon’s blood sage bundles and mini bundles, I almost removed them completely.
Not because I don’t believe in them, but because I overheard a comment about my pricing. And for a moment, it made me question things—even though my materials are verified, intentional, and priced below market value.
But then life answered right back.
About 10 minutes later, I got a message from one of my first buyers—ready to purchase sage wands again.
And just like that… it reminded me.
My work is valued. My hands are not in vain. And what’s meant for me will reach the right people.
My product will make it to California. A reminder that I have valued returning customers who believe in what I create.
That moment was my sign: don’t shrink, don’t doubt, and don’t undercut what I’ve built with intention.
Palm & Petal is still unfolding… and the future is brighter than the doubt.
Look out world—this is only the beginning.

Running a handmade business like Palm & Petal teaches you that validation doesn’t always come from grand gestures; sometimes it’s a simple message from a loyal customer that uplifts your spirit and renews your confidence. When I first started selling dragon’s blood sage bundles and mini bundles, pricing was a sensitive topic. Overhearing comments that made me second-guess my worth challenged me deeply, despite knowing my materials were sourced with care, verified for quality, and priced fairly below market value. I’ve learned the importance of intention in every step—from choosing materials to setting prices. Intentional pricing reflects not just cost, but the value of craftsmanship and the story behind each bundle. Small business owners often wrestle with imposter syndrome and market pressures to lower prices. However, undercutting can devalue the product and the time invested. That’s when returning customers become a business owner’s greatest source of encouragement. Receiving a message from a buyer ready to purchase more sage wands reminded me that my work resonates with people and that trust builds community. For small businesses, especially those proud to be Black-owned and woman-led, these moments affirm that the authentic connections we create with our customers are foundational. Shipping products all the way to places like California also emphasizes the reach of these handcrafted goods beyond local borders. It’s a testament to how intentional business building combined with quality and authenticity attracts a loyal clientele who seek meaningful, verified products. From my experience, embracing doubt is natural but it should never cause you to diminish your worth or the value of your creations. Instead, use those moments as fuel to keep moving forward. The handmade business journey is ongoing and ever-unfolding, and the future is bright for those who remain true to their vision. Stay connected to your customers, hold firm to your pricing that reflects your intentions, and let every piece you create tell your story.
