🩺 LPNs, Can We Talk About Something?
Everybody always asks:
“So when are you going back for your RN?”
And while becoming an RN is an amazing path…
✨ It’s NOT the only path.
As an LPN, you can build a career in so many different ways:
✔️ Home Health
✔️ Case Management
✔️ Clinical Review & Utilization Review
✔️ HEDIS & Quality Improvement
✔️ Telehealth
✔️ Medical Sales
✔️ Nurse Educator/Skills Trainer
✔️ School Nursing
✔️ Wellness & Health Coaching
✔️ Entrepreneurship
✔️ Digital Products & Content Creation
✔️ Affiliate Marketing
I’ve been an LPN for years, and one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is this:
Your nursing license is a tool, not a limitation.
You don’t have to follow the path everyone expects.
You can create a career that fits your lifestyle, your family, and your dreams.
Some nurses want RN.
Some want NP.
Some want to start businesses.
Some want to work from home.
✨ And all of those choices are valid.
Stop asking LPNs,
“When are you going back?”
Start asking,
💗 “What kind of life are you building?”
Because success isn’t one-size-fits-all.

As an LPN, embracing the many career pathways available can truly transform your professional life and personal fulfillment. I've found that many fellow LPNs feel pressured to pursue the RN path, but there’s immense power in redefining success on your own terms. Leveraging your license as a starting point, not a ceiling, opens doors to fields like clinical review, HEDIS quality improvement, and even digital content creation directly related to healthcare. In my experience, working in telehealth has allowed greater flexibility and work-life balance while still making a meaningful impact on patients remotely. Others I know have thrived as wellness and health coaches or have started their own businesses tailored to nursing education and skills training. This entrepreneurial spirit can be both rewarding and financially empowering. The shift towards remote nursing roles and digital healthcare services offers newer, niche specialties that are adaptable to different lifestyles, including part-time work or consulting. Moreover, affiliate marketing and creating digital products provide opportunities to generate income streams with your nursing expertise without direct patient contact. Ultimately, what I’ve realized is that your license is a versatile credential—rather than a fixed career path mandate. Asking "What kind of life are you building?" invites LPNs to explore their unique aspirations and innovate their career trajectories with freedom and purpose. By thinking beyond the traditional bedside role, many LPNs are building rich, varied professions that blend passion, flexibility, and legacy, proving success is truly individual and multi-faceted.
