Session 1 Therapy feelings

Today I’m choosing to be vulnerable & share my feelings about my day 1 of starting therapy. This has been a long time coming & a much needed commitment to myself. It’s ok to be vulnerable & it’s ok to share you. 2026 is my year of no shame! No shame for my past no shame for who I am & no apologies for who I am or who I’m becoming👌

From my experience, the initial session is a pivotal moment where vulnerability becomes a source of strength rather than weakness. Sharing openly about one’s feelings helps establish trust with the therapist and lays the groundwork for healing. It's important to recognize that being vulnerable is a courageous act, especially when confronting past experiences or emotions that might have been suppressed. Committing to therapy as a 'year of no shame' resonates deeply; it liberates us from the constraints of guilt or embarrassment related to our history or identity. In my journey, therapy has been about more than just addressing problems—it’s about rediscovering and affirming the self. Each session invites a step forward in personal growth, offering new insights and coping strategies that empower daily life. Celebrating small victories along the way, like opening up in the first session, helps build momentum toward lasting change. For anyone beginning therapy, my advice is to be patient and gentle with yourself. The process is not always linear, and feelings of uncertainty or discomfort are natural. Embrace the process as a commitment to your well-being and remember that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. By allowing yourself to be authentic and unapologetic about who you are and who you're becoming, you create space for genuine healing and growth.
