This project is the perfect solution for eye-catching halloween wall decor that's both budget-friendly and super fun to create. Trust me, it does not have to break the bank to have impressive decorations! Here’s what you’ll need to get started – I sourced most of my items from Five Below, making this an incredibly cheap Halloween decor project: A canvas pack (or a single canvas, depending on your desired size) A plastic skeleton (from Five Below's spooky section!) Black spray paint A few screws and zip ties Hot glue gun and glue sticks Artificial cobwebs and plastic spiders A small flameless candle Step-by-Step Guide to Your Spooky Skeleton Wall Art: Prepare Your Canvas: Start by painting your canvas black. This creates a dramatic, dark backdrop for your skeleton, making it pop. Let it dry completely. This is a crucial first step for that genuinely spooky vibe. Skeleton Prep: Carefully remove both of its legs from the plastic skeleton. Don't worry, we're not harming it, just preparing it for its artistic pose! You'll primarily be using the torso and arms for the main display, and the legs will be repurposed. Mounting the Skeleton: Position the skeleton torso on your black canvas. Once you're happy with its placement, it's time to secure it. Use a screw and zip tie to secure your skeleton to the canvas. I found that strategically placing a screw through a discreet part of the skeleton (like the back of the ribcage) and then threading a zip tie through the screw and around another part of the skeleton (like an arm or shoulder) creates a strong, hidden anchor. Trim any excess zip tie. Adding Spooky Details: Now for the fun part – making it truly eerie! Take your artificial cobwebs and stretch them across the top portion of your canvas and around the skeleton. Don't be afraid to make it look messy and natural. Then, meticulously add some webs and spiders to the top of the canvas and around the skeleton's body. A dab of hot glue can help keep those spiders in place. Creating the Candle Holder: Remember those legs we removed? Grab the skeleton's hands (from the detached legs) and zip tie them together nice and tight. You want them to form a secure "cup" shape. This clever trick allows them to support your flameless candle. Once secured, use a bit of hot glue to attach the skeleton hands to the canvas, positioning them so they appear to be holding out a flameless candle. This adds an incredible, flickering glow to your halloween wall decor. Final Touches: Place your flameless candle into the skeletal hands. Step back and admire your handiwork! You've successfully created a piece of decor you'll love breaking out every Halloween, and for a fraction of what store-bought items cost. This project truly shows how to make this wall art without a big price tag. It’s incredibly satisfying to create your own unique halloween wall decor that perfectly matches your spooky aesthetic. I hung mine right by my entryway to greet trick-or-treaters, but honestly, this would look amazing anywhere from a mantelpiece to a spooky gallery wall. Give it a try, and let me know where you'd hang your masterpiece! It’s such a rewarding DIY.
