Over the past two years, I’ve immersed myself deeply in every aspect of the production process—from writing the script to shooting, directing, and editing each scene. This hands-on approach not only made me a better actor and director but also gave me an intimate understanding of how all the moving pieces come together to bring a story to life. One of the biggest challenges I faced was balancing the creative vision with the practical constraints of an indie production—limited resources, wearing multiple hats, and learning through trial and error. Having my sister as the assistant director and camera operator was invaluable. Our collaboration brought energy and cohesion to the project that wouldn’t have been possible alone. My inspiration to create 'It Takes A Village' stemmed from the desire to tell authentic stories that reflect everyday workplace comedy, peppered with relatable characters and meaningful humor. When I saw the opportunity to pitch the show on platforms like Tubi and TikTok, I knew vertical storytelling was the future and tailored the content accordingly. The journey also uncovered industry inequities that motivated me to push harder. I noticed many influencers without acting backgrounds getting chances that I, with years of training, had to work tirelessly for. That frustration fueled my commitment to write and create a show showcasing genuine talent and storytelling. As I release each episode, I hope viewers not only find laughter and joy but also appreciate the heart and dedication embedded in every scene. Comedy, especially in times of hardship, serves as a powerful bridge connecting us through shared experiences and light-hearted moments. This project has been a testament to following one’s passion, the importance of resilience, and the magic that happens when a community comes together to make a vision real. For aspiring creators, my advice is simple: embrace the multi-faceted journey, learn from every setback, and never underestimate the value of collaboration. With determination and creativity, it’s possible to bring your stories from paper to screen, reaching audiences eager for fresh, meaningful content.
