The whole town to begin festivities of December season aka holiday season. Due to social media the crowds were much larger this year! Yay to tourism!
Best events the tree lighting and the vintage carolers who sing all favorite Christmas classic! I did love the display of miniature town which is seen in the window in the video.
Overall thoughts: this is my 3rd time being free to go and it’s always a lovely event. It’s always put a smile on my face and it’s fun to dress up for it. It’s fun solo day! The trolley and Museums were not active this time around which I was surprised! We have two museums in town.
Only other negative I have to say is that parents really need to watch their children or put them on leased. During the carolers performed there was one little girl that no one claim that kept trying to climb on the stage with them. 😩 the singers during certain songs looks uncomfortable when she climb on stage and process to pulled at one lady mic 🎤. Other than that I always love their performances. It’s sometime fun living in a small town! #smalltownchristmas #hallmarkchristmas #vintagestyle #lemon8challenge #lemon8christmas Ocean Grove
Ocean Grove's Annual Christmas Day event beautifully captures the essence of a nostalgic holiday celebration, offering guests a chance to experience a small-town December filled with festive charm and community spirit. Held on the first Saturday of December, the event invites visitors to step into a scene reminiscent of classic Hallmark movies, where vintage house tours allow you to admire period decor and architecture, evoking a warm, inviting atmosphere. One highlight is the Victorian House Tour, a beloved tradition organized by the Ocean Grove Chamber of Commerce. Visitors can purchase tickets in advance—usually around mid-October—to explore elegantly decorated homes from 10 AM to 4 PM. This tour showcases historic mansions adorned with festive decorations, creating an immersive holiday experience that delights both locals and tourists. Beyond the tours, the town hosts free activities such as hot cider and warm cookies that offer a cozy way to indulge while strolling along holiday shopping venues that feature unique, handcrafted goods perfect for seasonal gifting. The trolley rides, although occasionally inactive, historically provide a charming way to see the town and its decorations, adding to the vintage feel of the event. The highlight of the afternoon is the tree lighting ceremony accompanied by vintage carolers singing timeless Christmas classics, creating a magical ambiance. Gospel choirs and a live nativity play further enrich the spiritual and communal aspects of the celebration. Even Santa makes an appearance, bringing joy to families, although occasionally with a humorous twist as noted in recent years. Social media has amplified the event's reach, resulting in larger crowds and increased tourism, which benefits the local economy. Despite the joyous atmosphere, event organizers remind parents to keep a close watch on their children for safety and to respect performers during their acts. For those planning to visit, check the official Ocean Grove website for updated details and ticket availability. Whether attending solo or with family, this annual Christmas Day event offers a memorable holiday experience filled with vintage charm, festive traditions, and the warmth of a close-knit community. Ocean Grove truly embodies the spirit of the holiday season with its Annual Christmas Day, making it a must-visit destination for those who cherish classic Christmas celebrations.
