Amicus and Impudens: Poses
It's been such a fun journey bringing these UTSM 3.0 characters to life through my sketches! For those of you who adore Impudens and Amicus Felinus as much as I do, I wanted to share a deeper dive into my fanart process and why these animal impudens interpretations are so special to me. When I started sketching, my main goal was to capture their unique personalities, even in simple pencil sketch form. For Amicus Conty, I loved the idea of him just chilling, so you often see him lying comfortably on his back with his tail curled, maybe even wearing a bell – it just feels so him, right? He's that lovable, slightly goofy character. Then there's Impudens, with that signature grumpy expression. Trying to get him to look both cool and a bit annoyed, especially when standing upright with a bow on his neck and that distinctive striped tail, is always a challenge I enjoy. He's often in a more assertive or even disdainful pose, which really brings out his dark blue, somewhat mysterious vibe. The idea of the 'detached head' poses came from wanting to explore character expressions more vividly, almost like a mood board for their emotions. You see Amicus's head looking confused with a question mark, or Impudens's head showing that classic grumpy expression while his body is just lying on its side. It allows for so much flexibility when thinking about pose swaps and how different emotions can be conveyed with the same body posture. Sometimes Amicus is in a curled sitting pose, and his head is facing away, conveying a moment of contemplation or shyness. And Impudens, well, sometimes his head and limbs are detached and scattered around his body, which perfectly captures his chaotic, yet endearing, nature! Creating UTSM 3.0 fanart is more than just drawing; it’s about connecting with the characters and imagining them in new scenarios. I often think about how their stylized, cat-like characters would interact in different situations. What kind of adventures would they have? What minor details, like Impudens’s dark blue fur or Amicus’s white coat, can I emphasize to make them instantly recognizable? My goal is always to create a digital illustration that feels authentic to their universe, even if it's just a quick sketch. I truly believe that good human art comes from passion, and exploring these poses helps me understand their dynamics better. So, tell me, what other poses or situations would you love to see Amicus and Impudens in? Are there any specific scenes from UTSM 3.0 you’d like me to try to recreate or interpret? Your ideas really help shape my next projects!
