Koda, a couple of police dogs, can escape the car, but he chooses not to leave his partner, Koda ducks back into the carcass, and then uses her body to lie on top of Sarah to convey warmth, preventing her from going into hypercooling.
After more than four hours, the rescue team found an impressive sight. Koda was shivering from the cold, but still defending his boss, refusing to go anywhere. Doctors confirmed that his warmth was the key reason Sarah survived.
