🗿 The Great Discoveries of the Ancient World - Nefertiti Monk Statue

December 6, 1912, was one of the major events of archaeology when an expedition led by German archaeologist Ludwig Borchardt discovered a bust of Mrs. Nefertiti at the Tell el-Amarna archaeological site in Egypt.

The statue was found in the remains of a house that used to be the workshop of a sculptor named Thutmose, an expert in ancient Egyptian art.

The engraved image is that of Nefertiti, Akhenaten's chief consort, built of plaster-coated limestone and elaborately colored, the hallmark of which is an elegant long throat and a tall blue crown, which became a symbol of the beauty of ancient Egypt.

Historians believe the statue was built around 1353-1336 BC and is considered one of the most magnificent works of art from the ancient Egyptian period.

Today, the original statue is preserved and displayed at the Neues Museum in Berlin, Germany, despite Egypt's constant efforts to demand the return of this precious treasure to the motherland.
