MacOS 🙄 ==> Linux Mint 🥰

My MacBook stopped updating so switching OS is what we do!!

1/20 Edited to

... Read moreWhen my MacBook Air stopped receiving updates on MacOS, I decided to take matters into my own hands by installing Linux Mint instead. The process of switching operating systems on Apple hardware, especially MacBooks, can feel a bit daunting, but it’s surprisingly straightforward with the right guidance. Linux Mint is an excellent choice for those seeking stability, ease of use, and ongoing updates without the need for a new device. For MacBook users, compatibility is a significant concern; however, Linux Mint offers good support for Mac hardware components, including Wi-Fi, graphics, and keyboard functions. During installation, make sure to create a bootable USB drive with the Linux Mint ISO and adjust the MacBook’s boot options to allow booting from external media. One tip from my experience: back up your important files before starting, as the installation process will typically wipe existing data. After installation, tweaking system settings and installing additional drivers might be necessary to optimize your system’s performance fully. The transition allows you to breathe new life into an older device, offering a user-friendly interface and access to a vast array of open-source software. Ultimately, switching from MacOS to Linux Mint was not just a practical solution but also an empowering experience that gave me more control over my device and software updates. If your MacBook feels obsolete due to update limitations, consider exploring Linux Mint as a viable, budget-friendly alternative to extend the lifespan of your hardware.
