Zombies, jump scares, and way more cardio than I expected. This is my application to be your professional zombie slayer @Sandbox VR 🧟‍♂️🎮

I recently stepped into another world at Sandbox VR Baltimore, Maryland and it was one of the most immersive experiences I’ve had in Baltimore. My group played the zombie survival game, and let’s just say… the undead were coming from EVERY direction. The screams were real. 😂

Unlike traditional gaming, you’re actually walking, ducking, dodging, and working as a team while wearing a VR headset, motion trackers, and a haptic vest that makes the experience feel incredibly realistic. By the end, we were sweating, laughing, and fully invested in surviving the apocalypse.

Before you go:

✔️ Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes

✔️ Be prepared to move around a lot

✔️ Arrive a little early for check-in and gear setup

✔️ Bring your friends—the experience is even better as a group

What set this experience apart from traditional gaming was the full-body engagement — walking, ducking, and dodging zombies while wearing a VR headset, motion trackers, and a haptic vest that made every hit feel real. It wasn’t just about aiming and shooting; it was about surviving as a team against relentless oncoming undead, which made the adrenaline rush skyrocket. Before you embark on this adventure, I found it essential to wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes because the game is surprisingly active. There’s a lot of movement involved, more cardio than I expected, which actually added to the fun and intensity. Arriving early for gear setup helped smooth the transition into the virtual world so we could focus entirely on surviving. The atmosphere was electrifying, especially as the zombies seemed to come from every direction. The use of the motion trackers and haptic feedback created an immersive feeling where you could sense impacts and nearby threats, boosting the tension and excitement. Laughter and screams filled the room as our group navigated this thrilling apocalypse. Sandbox VR Baltimore is located at 720 Aliceanna St, Suite A, making it accessible for locals and visitors alike. For anyone curious about VR gaming or looking for a unique group activity, this is a must-try. It’s a brilliant mix of technology, physical engagement, and cooperative gameplay. And yes, practicing a little dance choreography before jumping in, like prepping for zombies as some did, adds a fun, communal vibe to the immersion.
