หลายครั้งที่ผมเองก็เจอปัญหาการทำงานหรือการตัดสินใจที่ไม่ก้าวหน้า ทั้งๆ ที่พยายามเต็มที่แล้ว แต่พอเริ่มมาวัดผลอย่างจริงจัง ผมพบว่าสิ่งที่สำคัญไม่ใช่แค่การพยายามอย่างเดียว แต่คือการรู้ว่าพยายามไปแล้ว “ได้ผล” หรือไม่ ลองนึกดูง่ายๆ ว่าเมื่อเทรดหุ้นหรือทำธุรกิจ หากไม่ได้บันทึกหรือวิเคราะห์ผลลัพธ์ เราก็เหมือนเดินทางโดยไม่มีแผนที่ ไม่รู้ว่าจุดไหนที่ทำเงิน และจุดไหนที่เสีย ซึ่งนั่นหมายถึงการเสียเวลาซ้ำซากกับสิ่งที่ไม่ได้ผล ผมเองเริ่มใช้วิธีจดทุกไม้ในการเทรด วิเคราะห์ผลกำไรขาดทุนอย่างละเอียด รวมถึงพฤติกรรมการใช้เงินที่ชัดเจน นอกจากจะช่วยให้รู้ว่าต้องปรับตรงไหนแล้ว ยังทำให้สามารถตั้งเป้าหมายและวางแผนการเงินได้ชัดเจนขึ้น ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการลดรายจ่ายที่ไม่จำเป็นหรือการจัดการเงินทุนให้เหมาะสม ในชีวิตประจำวันผมก็ใช้แนวคิดการวัดผลนี้เช่นกัน เช่น วัดเวลาที่ใช้กับกิจกรรมต่างๆ เพื่อดูว่ากิจกรรมไหนช่วยให้รู้สึกดีขึ้นและมีประสิทธิภาพ หรือกิจกรรมไหนทำให้เสียเวลาไปโดยเปล่าประโยชน์ แนวคิดนี้ช่วยให้รู้ว่าเวลาและพลังงานของเราควรใส่กับสิ่งใด นำไปสู่การพัฒนาตัวเองในทุกด้านอย่างต่อเนื่อง สุดท้าย สิ่งที่วัดได้จึงเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของการพัฒนาและการเติบโต ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการเทรด การเงิน หรือการใช้ชีวิตก็ตาม เมื่อวัดผลแล้วเราจะได้ข้อมูลที่ถูกต้อง นำมาปรับปรุงได้อย่างเป็นระบบ และมองเห็นภาพรวมที่แท้จริงของความก้าวหน้าและจุดที่ต้องแก้ไข
