I like it when he tells me to make him a sandwich.

Since being a housewife, we have had to cut cost and make food at home and very rarely eat out. with that, it means that I have to cook every single day which can be tiring.

Sometimes I get tired of cooking so I will ask my husband what he wants and when I ask him I don’t want to hear some elaborate dish that takes two hours, though, I would make it if he really wanted it.

But usually he says my favorite phrase that’s like music to my ears. “Make me a sandwich” like yes I will make you a sandwich. Sandwiches are so easy to make. Just think about it two pieces of bread put some cheese and meat in there, grill it a little bit and then you have a meal. There’s so many different ways to make them. I make pizzas sandwiches I make regular grilled cheese with a side tomato soup I’ll make breakfast sandwiches. I love it all.

The simplicity of just making sandwich is something that I will always cherish despite it being considered as a negative phrase.

Do any of y’all like making your husband a sandwich?

... Read moreYou know, sometimes the simplest things bring the most joy in married life, especially when it comes to cooking. Like I mentioned, hearing 'make me a sandwich' from my husband is genuinely music to my ears! It’s not just about the ease; it’s about the comfort and quick satisfaction it brings to both of us. After a long day, the last thing we both want is a complicated culinary project. I've found that having a few go-to sandwich ideas up my sleeve makes dinner (or lunch, or even a late-night snack!) a breeze. Beyond the classic grilled cheese with tomato soup – which is always a winner, by the way – there are so many ways to get creative without adding hours to your kitchen time. For example, have you ever tried a 'pizza sandwich'? It’s basically using bread as your pizza base! A little tomato sauce, some mozzarella, pepperoni or whatever toppings you love, grill it or pop it in a pan until the cheese is bubbly. It’s incredibly satisfying and feels like a treat. Another one I love is a hearty breakfast sandwich, even for dinner. Scrambled eggs, a slice of cheese, some ham or bacon, all tucked into toasted bread. It’s quick, filling, and perfect for those 'breakfast for dinner' nights. Thinking about 'creative sandwich making' doesn't have to mean gourmet ingredients or complicated techniques. It’s more about mixing and matching what you already have. Leftover chicken? Shred it, mix with a little mayo and celery for a quick chicken salad sandwich. Hummus, cucumber, and feta on whole wheat for a fresh vegetarian option. Even just adding a unique spread, like a pesto or a sun-dried tomato tapenade, can elevate a simple turkey and cheese. If you have kids, getting them involved in 'creative sandwich making' can also be a fun activity. They can pick their own fillings, arrange toppings, or even use cookie cutters to make fun shapes out of bread and cheese. It makes mealtime an adventure without much effort from your side. For adults, think about different bread types – a ciabatta roll for a hearty Italian sub, a soft brioche for a gourmet grilled cheese, or a baguette for a classic banh mi inspired creation (even if it's a simplified version!). The possibilities truly are endless, and you can customize them based on what's in your fridge. The key for me is keeping a well-stocked pantry and fridge with sandwich essentials: a variety of good bread (sourdough, whole wheat, brioche buns), different cheeses (cheddar, provolone, swiss), deli meats, and fresh veggies like lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. A good condiment selection – mustard, mayo, hot sauce – also goes a long way. Making a sandwich for my husband isn't just about feeding him; it's a little act of love that takes minutes. It lets me relax after a day of cooking, and he gets a delicious, homemade meal. It really embodies that feeling of 'make me a sandwich' being a positive, simple request. Plus, it saves us money compared to eating out, which is a huge bonus when you're managing a household budget. Do any of you have super quick and easy sandwich recipes you swear by? I'm always looking for new ideas to add to my rotation!
