Slowly turning this house into our dream home. 🤍

We bought this house back in 2018, and I remember so many people asking why we didn’t just build instead.

But honestly… I’ve loved watching this home evolve over the years.

It was built in 1995, and it has so much character. Little by little, we’ve updated spaces, made changes that fit our family, and turned it into a place that truly feels like us.

We’re still not finished (are we ever? 😂), and that’s honestly part of the fun. Every project makes it feel a little more like home.

... Read moreRenovating a house rather than building new can be a deeply rewarding experience, as it allows you to preserve unique features and the character of the original structure. When we purchased our 1995 home in 2018, I was initially overwhelmed by the idea of updating an older house, but the journey has been incredibly fulfilling. One of the biggest lessons I learned during this process is to approach each improvement with patience and intention. Instead of rushing to completely overhaul everything at once, taking it slowly and making updates that truly reflect our needs and style has made the transformation meaningful. It’s important to maintain balance between preserving original charm and incorporating modern conveniences. We started by focusing on spaces that impacted daily life most—like the kitchen and living areas—making them more functional and inviting. Over time, small projects like repainting walls, upgrading light fixtures, and adding cozy textures completely changed the ambience. Personal touches, such as family photos and curated décor, helped make the space feel especially ours. Another rewarding aspect is adapting the home to fit evolving family needs. Creating multifunctional rooms and maximizing storage helped us stay organized and comfortable. Also, embracing the ongoing nature of renovation—understanding that a home is never truly 'finished'—has made the process enjoyable rather than stressful. For anyone considering renovating an older home, my advice is to appreciate the journey. Celebrate the progress and don’t be discouraged by setbacks or unfinished projects. Each step adds layers of memories and personality. Watching a house grow into your dream home, one thoughtful update at a time, is truly special.
