The Cursed 🦴🥀

Book 2 is done.

I RAN THROUGH this book. The way #harperlwoods literally keeps you on the edge of your seat 🫠

In book 2, we still follow Willow and Gray 🤫 but if you read book 1 then you know that there is a MAJOR twist at the end. And the twists keep twisting and the loops keep looping..cause baby! This book was a roller coaster! Just when you think things are leveling out and you can breathe again you are thrown back into the mix of events that leave you thinking 🤔 WTH just happened.

And of course, sometimes we need a quote from the Lord of the Underworld himself 🤷🏻‍♀️

I haven’t seen book 3, normally it pops up on my next book when I’m reading a series. But it didn’t this time. So I’ll be waiting for book 3.

Anyone else think that Ash is going to be her “child” to make the change? I know Charlotte said “daughter” but I have a feeling Ash is going to be the wrecking ball!

Happy Reading!

... Read moreOkay, Lemon8 fam, I had to come back and spill more thoughts after my initial reaction to 'The Cursed Book 2'! Seriously, Harper L. Woods has a way of crafting a world that just pulls you in and doesn't let go. After finishing Book 2, my mind is still buzzing with all the twists Willow and Gray endured. Speaking of those twists, it got me thinking about the very nature of a 'curse' itself. You know how sometimes in fantasy, there's that intense moment where a protagonist reveals a deeply personal curse to their love interest, desperately trying to eliminate it, only for it to cling tighter than ever? That feeling of a powerful, inescapable force definitely resonates throughout this series. Watching Willow and Gray navigate their bond amidst such overwhelming odds, and facing down whatever dark magic binds them, really highlights the emotional weight of their journey. The book doesn't shy away from showing how deeply a 'curse' can impact not just an individual, but also their most intimate relationships. And the atmosphere! The book cover itself, with its dark, mystical design featuring skeletal hands, thorny vines, and those haunting purple flowers, perfectly sets the stage for the dark fantasy theme explored within. You can almost feel the swirling, maze-like patterns of their fate. It’s not just a story; it's an immersive experience where ancient magic and perilous secrets are around every corner. There was a line I remember reading somewhere, 'You do not need to carry the weight of the world every time someone fucks you over. Sometimes people just do shitty things.' This sentiment, while maybe not directly from this book, really captures the essence of some of the struggles Willow and Gray face. They're constantly dealing with external forces and betrayals, and learning when to fight, when to let go, and how to carry their burdens without being crushed by them. It's about resilience in the face of what feels like a 'supernatural haunting' of their lives. Harper L. Woods truly builds a captivating world, making you feel every 'awkward meeting' or tense confrontation between characters. It's this kind of intricate storytelling that makes you want to dive into every detail, much like trying to unravel a complex historical event or even a time-travel paradox. You find yourself pondering the 'forgotten sands' of the past that led to current predicaments and the 'unfulfilled promises' that drive characters forward. If you're a fan of deep character arcs, morally grey areas, and a world where witches and demons clash, then this series is a must-read. The way the author weaves in elements of prophecy and destiny, hinting at the fate of characters like Ash, leaves you speculating endlessly. It's why communities like Reddit are so alive with discussions about these books – everyone's trying to piece together the clues! I'm eagerly awaiting Book 3, hoping for more revelations about the 'curse' and how our beloved characters will finally break free, or perhaps, embrace their destiny. Happy reading, fellow bookworms!
