My Birkin another Birkin. What makes 'em different

I heard some noise about Rifaaqat being a good substitute to Babycat, and so I got it.

I now have both in my collection and have worn both separately on different day, and I've also worn them together. I've noticed a few differences and similarities between the two, so let's talk about it.

**Similarities**

Both Babycat and Rifaaqat share common notes. These fragrances are not your usual sweet vanilla gourmand. They lean more dry and spicy. The bottles are straightforward with a good amount of weight to them. I do not particularly care for Rifaaqat's gigantic label size, which covers most of the bottle. LET THE JUICE BE SEEN!!!

**Differences**

Babycat is smoother, sweeter, with a bit more vanilla and a little less pepper. Rifaaqat, on the other hand, has a bit more pepper at the top and leans more masculine, in my opinion. Babycat contains Suede, whereas Rifaaqat does not (which I dont believe as i get a bit of Suede with this as well).

**The dry down**

A couple of minutes after initial spray, Babycat dries down to a beautiful blend of amber, warm boozy peppery creamy vanilla and soft leather. Rifaaqat dries into a nice blend of woody, peppery vanilla as well and leather.

**Longevity and Projection**

The sillage and longevity of Babycat is beast mode. I wore this right after my morning shower and could still smell it on me well into the night and could still smell it on my clothes the next day. Rifaaqat holds its own with a solid 6+ hours.

I'd caution you to be mindful of how much you spray. These two can get quite overwhelming. I had a sneeze attack my first time wearing them.

**Blind Buy Friendly?**

These fragrances will not be liked by all. It'd be wise to test them out before committing to buying full-size bottles as they are not cheap.

Especially for my gourmand girlies.

**Takeaway**

These two are more like siblings, cut from the same cloth, but one's a bit smoother and a little more vanilla.

Babycat is the smoother, sweeter sibling with higher quality ingredients and blend.

Kuddos to Paris Corner for nailing this replica with Rifaaqat, landing them at a respectable 85%-90% in similarity.

**In conclusion**

Both fragrances are similar but also have a couple of differences. Once they dry down, no one can tell the difference.

Owning both is not necessary. However, if you'd like a less expensive alternative to Babycat, let me present to you Rifaaqat.

... Read moreAfter hearing so much buzz about Paris Corner Rifaaqat being a fantastic alternative to the luxurious YSL Babycat, I just had to get my hands on both to truly compare them myself. As someone always searching for that perfect signature scent, the idea of a high-quality dupe is incredibly appealing! My journey with these two fragrances has been quite insightful, and I'm excited to share more of my personal observations beyond just their primary differences. Many of you, like me, might be wondering about the 'real vs. fake' aspect, or more accurately, the quality comparison between a designer fragrance and its inspired counterpart. While Rifaaqat isn't a fake, it aims to capture the essence of Babycat. What I've truly noticed is how the 'blend' feels. With Babycat, there's an undeniable smoothness and seamless transition between notes – that luxurious Bourbon Vanilla and Suede just melt together, creating a sophisticated warmth. It feels incredibly well-rounded and, dare I say, almost three-dimensional on the skin. The Elemi and Saffron in Babycat also seem to possess a unique depth that contributes to its allure, making it feel truly 'designer.' Rifaaqat, on the other hand, while remarkably similar (85-90% as mentioned!), has a slightly more direct, perhaps linear, presentation of its notes. You definitely get that bold Elemi, Pink Pepper, and Pepper right at the top, which gives it a powerful opening. The Frankincense and Saffron come through strongly, leading to a robust vanilla and cedarwood dry down. It's a fantastic scent, don't get me wrong, but if you pay close attention, you might perceive a subtle difference in the 'richness' or 'refinement' that YSL Babycat offers, especially in its unique vanilla suede base. This isn't to say Rifaaqat is lacking; it just confirms that premium ingredients and masterful blending contribute to Babycat's higher price point. Thinking about when to wear these, Babycat's beast-mode longevity makes it perfect for those long days or special evenings when you want your scent to last from morning coffee to late-night drinks. I've worn it after a morning shower and still caught beautiful whiffs the next day on my clothes – a testament to its staying power! Rifaaqat, with its solid 6+ hours, is still very impressive and works wonderfully for a full workday or an afternoon outing. I'd consider Babycat for more formal events or when I want to feel extra pampered, while Rifaaqat could be my go-to for everyday luxury. And let's not forget the aesthetics! The YSL Babycat bottle, often seen in striking black and gold, exudes elegance with its heavy and sleek design. The distinctive YSL logo embossed on the cap is a beautiful touch that adds to the overall premium feel. Rifaaqat's bottle is also substantial, but as mentioned, its gigantic label can obscure the beautiful amber-colored liquid inside, which is a small detail but can impact the visual appeal. Both bottles clearly list their notes, with Babycat detailing Top, Middle, and Base notes, and Rifaaqat also providing a 'Warm Spicy' group classification, which is helpful for understanding their profiles even before spraying. For those considering a blind buy, my advice remains firm: test before you commit! These are both strong, spicy vanilla scents that won't appeal to everyone, especially if you're accustomed to sweeter gourmands. Seek out decants or samples if you can. You might find that while Rifaaqat is an amazing alternative, the subtle nuances of Babycat still call to you, or perhaps Rifaaqat’s bolder, more peppery personality is exactly what you’ve been looking for. Either way, experiencing them firsthand is the best way to decide which 'sibling' truly belongs in your collection.
