Cartoons Samples into beats.
While I was waiting for a friend to show up, I dove into sampling these cartoons and flipping them into beats. I was testing out the MOMIX audio mixer for the first time—this cool smartphone interface—and it let me go straight from the MPC into my phone, even with all the outside noise. This is the beat I came up with—the whole thing took about an hour. Full video on YouTube

Sampling cartoon audio clips to create beats is an exciting way to blend nostalgia with modern music production. When I first experimented with this, I focused on capturing quirky sound effects and memorable voices from cartoons, which added a playful vibe to my tracks. Using the MPC One allowed me to manipulate these samples creatively—chopping, looping, and layering them to build rhythmic patterns that maintain their original charm. What truly enhanced my workflow was incorporating the MOMIX audio mixer on my smartphone. This interface offers a smooth transition from hardware sampling rigs like the MPC to mobile devices, enabling me to edit and polish my beats anywhere, without losing sound quality despite external noise. It’s quite satisfying to produce complete tracks right on the go. One thing I learned is to pay attention to sample selection—choosing clips with distinct sounds, such as character catchphrases or signature cartoon effects, helps the beat stand out. Also, keeping the session length manageable—like my one-hour beat-making session—helps maintain creative flow without feeling overwhelmed. For those interested in exploring this style, I recommend starting with familiar cartoons so that listeners can connect with the sounds subconsciously. Platforms like Bandcamp and vinyl releases also open up opportunities to share these unique beats with a community that appreciates vinyl’s warmth alongside digital creativity. Overall, turning cartoon samples into beats is a fun, innovative way to merge sound design, nostalgia, and beat-making skills, producing tracks that resonate with fans of both cartoons and music production.
