Book Anotations
Some of my Crown of Midnight annotations.
I don’t annotate every book but I do typically choose a book I LOVE or a series that I want to stay consistent with.
Do you annotate your books??

I've been absolutely loving diving deeper into my books lately through annotating, and Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas was the perfect candidate for it! It's not just about marking pages; for me, it's about building a conversation with the story and making my reading experience truly personal. When I look back at my copy, filled with colorful tabs and highlights, it feels like a treasure map of my own journey through Terrasen. I often get asked what I choose to annotate. For me, it's a mix of everything! I tend to highlight passages that spark a strong emotion, make me think, or reveal something crucial about a character. For instance, in *Crown of Midnight*, moments where a knight wins a woman's heart by seeing her true self, not just her power, are definitely going to get a yellow highlight from me. These are often subtle but profound character insights that build up the world and relationships. Then there are the quotes that just hit you in the feels. Like the iconic 'I'd still pick you. I'll always pick you.' – that instantly got a pink highlight and some blue heart stickers around it because it spoke volumes about devotion and choice. It's those lines that resonate deeply and become memorable long after you've finished the book. And of course, for fantasy series like this, keeping track of plot points and revelations is key! The moment I discovered that 'Celaena Sardothien was Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, heir to the throne and rightful Queen of Terrasen' was a game-changer. Marking that key plot point in pink ensured I could easily revisit it and appreciate the foreshadowing later. It helps me piece together the intricate lore and character arcs that Sarah J. Maas is so brilliant at crafting. My system is pretty simple: I use different colored tabs for different themes or characters, and highlighters for specific types of content. Yellow might be for world-building details or character descriptions, while pink is reserved for emotional moments or powerful quotes. Sometimes I'll even jot quick notes in the margins – a question, a reaction, or a connection to something else I've read. Annotating isn't about perfection; it's about engagement. It truly enhances my understanding and appreciation of the story. When I reread, those annotations bring back all the feelings and insights from my first read, almost like I'm experiencing it anew. If you're new to annotating, I'd say just start with what feels right. Grab some colorful tabs, a highlighter, and begin marking anything that catches your eye. You'll find your own rhythm and style, and it will transform your reading journey!
