Little Big Sheriff--Blasting Angle!!
My 5'3" OC May Be Small, But She's Packing Big Heat... >_< 5'3", But Her Revolvers Saying 6 Feet Under.
Drew this one late, hands a little shaky, mind a little heavy, and lost another good pen, but she came out just right. Hope y’all like her as much as I do. >_<
Creating my 'Little Big Sheriff' original character has been such a journey, and I’m so excited to share more about her! When I started sketching, I really wanted to play with the idea of a character who defies expectations. She’s only 5’3”, but don’t let that fool you – she’s got a presence that’s way bigger than her stature. That’s where the 'Little Big Sheriff' concept came from; it’s all about her powerful impact despite her size. For this particular piece, I focused on a dynamic 'blasting angle' to really emphasize her strength and the action. It was late, and my hands were a bit shaky, but I pushed through because I had such a clear vision of her. I even lost a good pen along the way, but it was worth it! I love how the muzzle flash turned out; it really makes her 'hand cannon' feel alive. The goal was to capture that raw, impactful moment, and I think I nailed it. One of the most fun parts was adding all the sound effects you see in the sketches. Things like "Bang," "Boom," and "CRACK" aren't just there for show; they're meant to pull you right into the action, making you almost hear the chaos as she fires. And when she's moving, those "SKRRT" and "SCRAPE" effects convey her quick, decisive movements. It’s all about bringing that energy to the page. Even small details like her "Hat Tipped With Swagger" are crucial for her personality – it shows she’s confident and ready for anything. I always think about how every line and detail adds to the overall story of the character. I often get asked about the inspiration for her, and honestly, it’s a mix of classic Westerns and my love for characters who are underestimated. I wanted her to be a 'big sheriff' in terms of her spirit, her resolve, and the punch she packs, regardless of her physical size. It’s a reminder that true power comes from within. I hope this gives you a little more insight into the making of my fierce, little-but-mighty character. Let me know what you think!
