A Lookback to Inktober of Last Year!
After the 31-day challenge, I continued to draw in ink permanently. it's always cool to look back on art and see how much you've improved... or regressed. >_<
Participating in Inktober last year was truly a game-changer for my art practice, and I still find myself 'daily inking' thanks to the habits I built! It's incredible to 'flashback to Inktober' and see the genuine progress I made, even through the days I felt like I was completely 'screwed' artistically. There were moments, especially around 'Day 12,' where inspiration felt miles away, and I questioned if I could even draw a simple 'burp' without it looking awful! But pushing through those moments is what daily challenges are all about. If you're looking for your own 'daily source of inspiration,' I highly recommend diving into a challenge like Inktober. It's not just about drawing every day; it's about consistency, overcoming creative blocks, and discovering new techniques. I learned so much about shading, hatching, and even developing my own unique style. For anyone hesitant to try, here are a few tips I picked up: First, don't aim for perfection every single day. Some days, your art will be a masterpiece, and other days, it might just be a quick 'doodle.' That's perfectly fine! The goal is to show up. Second, embrace the prompts but don't be afraid to interpret them loosely to fit your own artistic voice. Sometimes, the most unexpected interpretations lead to the most creative pieces. Third, connect with other artists! Seeing others' work on platforms like Lemon8 or Instagram can be a huge motivator and a fantastic source of new ideas. Comment on their art, share your struggles, and celebrate your wins together. The beauty of a daily challenge is that it forces you to experiment. Before Inktober, I rarely explored 'fantasy' themes, but the prompts encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone. It taught me that even when you feel 'remote' from your creative flow, showing up at your desk with ink and paper can kickstart something amazing. Reflecting on my journey, I realize that the real magic wasn't just in the finished drawings, but in the discipline and resilience I built. It transformed my approach to art, proving that consistent effort truly leads to profound artistic growth.
