WHERE DO I PARK?

2025/2/9 Edited to

... Read moreWhen you're living the bus life or any form of nomadic RV living, the question of 'where do I park?' is constant. While my initial tips cover common overnight spots like the trusted Cracker Barrel parking lot or convenient Walmart locations, I know many of you are looking for specific experiences – and that often includes searching for 'adults only campgrounds'. It's a great question, and something I've definitely considered during my travels, even when I'm generally stationed, perhaps working at a campground myself. Adults-only campgrounds aren't just about avoiding kids; they're often about creating a specific atmosphere. Imagine a place where peace and quiet are prioritized, where the community might lean towards shared interests like hiking, crafting, or simply enjoying a tranquil evening without the usual family campground hustle. For many of us in the bus life, who might be seeking a longer stay or a more focused environment for work or relaxation after a long stretch on the road, these spots can be a real game-changer. They offer a different kind of vibe, perhaps a more mature or serene setting compared to a bustling family park. So, how do you find these gems? Just like with any unique parking situation, you really just have to research the area. Online directories, specific RV community forums, and even word-of-mouth within the nomad circle are invaluable. Look for campgrounds that explicitly state "adults only" or "age-restricted" in their descriptions. Sometimes, they might be smaller, more boutique-style parks, or even dedicated sections within larger resorts. My experience, even when simply staying at a general campground for work, has taught me that asking locals or fellow RVers is often the best way to uncover these specialized spots. Don't be afraid to ask! While a Harvest Host membership is fantastic for unique, often quieter overnight stays, and I'm definitely thinking of getting one myself, adults-only campgrounds offer a different level of amenity and community for extended visits. It’s about choosing your tribe or your solitude. Whether you're pulling into a Cracker Barrel parking lot for a quick overnight or planning a longer retreat, knowing your options helps immensely. Remember the times we've lucked out and found a secret plug at an unexpected spot? That spirit of discovery applies to finding the perfect campground too. Ultimately, whether it's an adults-only haven, a welcoming Harvest Host location, or a reliable Walmart parking lot, the key is always preparation and research. Every day in bus life brings a new adventure, and finding the right place to rest your wheels is a huge part of that. Happy travels, and may your parking spots always be perfect!

how do we not talk about this national park more!?
Ok ok, I know Olympic National Park is fairly well known, but the fact that it’s not in most people’s top three national park list is an absolute CRIME! Don’t get me wrong, I love Yellowstone and The Grand Canyon, but you will never get as much biodiversity in one place as Olympic National Park.
