My 20 year old living pickle jar
The first photo is from 1988. I was 10 years old. That’s my grandma next to me, in Chengdu. She made pickles her whole life. I grew up watching her hands in the jar, pressing the vegetables, adjusting the brine. She never wrote anything down. No recipes, no measurements. Just her Chinese eyeballs.
